For new equipment, there are precious few dealers still stocking a generous selection of hardware and supplies for the analog film photographer. Those who do are by necessity, fairly high-priced. After all, this is a niche market and there aren't the millions of avid hobbiests burning film and going through darkroom supplies that there was just a few years ago. B&H Photo/Video in New York is one of those dealers that has been around since the first half of the last century and they've earned their success by recognizing just who it is that is buttering their bread. Since they generate good volumes of revenue in the digital market as well as audio/video equipment, they aren't relying exclusively on a small population of holdouts to the film age. They have reasonable prices, a huge selection and outstanding customer service. Just how good is it?
After purchase the Plustek scanner reviewed on this site, about three weeks later the price dropped by $250.00. Instead of getting upset, I call B&H customer service and one of the friendlier service reps I've dealt with over the past few years told me that was no problem. And two days later, my account was credited with the difference. On another occasion, a rather large order of film was deposited on somebody else's front door step by our local (not incredibly bright) UPS driver. We will never know what happened to that film. Another call to B&H and there was no bureaucratice BS about filing claims and waiting for an investigation. They overnighted me a duplicate order and said they'd take care of the claim with UPS. This is the sort of thing that makes me a loyal repeat customer.
